South Padre Island - Sunrise and Sunset

We just returned from a week at South Padre Island. It has been a few years since we've been there, but we enjoy it every time. I took several photos during this trip and will divide them into multiple posts by subject area.

The first group is sunrise and sunsets. These can be spectacular, although the weather wasn't as cooperative this past week. It wasn't necessarily raining and stormy, but there were a lot of clouds on most days. Consequently there was only one really good evening and one really good morning.

This first one was taken on one of the cloudy evenings. I thought the colors were just great in this shot.


Here are a couple of sunset pictures taken from Louie's backyard back toward Laguna Madre. We were coming back from dinner at Pirate's Landing in Port Isabel when we decided to stop at Louie's as it looked like it was going to be clear for a change. I thought the one where the sun was reflecting off of the water was particularly interesting. That effect only lasted for about 10 seconds.


We had one morning where there were few clouds at sunrise. These pictures were taken toward the Gulf side of the island.
